I am artist working with mixed mediums out of my studio in Colorado. I found my way to fine art very nervously, by deciding to challenge myself by doing something i was afraid of - so i went to a sketching class.
MATERIALS
six months, unemployment, and many disastrous attempts at other mediums gave way to the realization that i need to work fast, because i see quickly. i switched to acrylics, which dry faster and allow me to create layers with multiple mediums.
MOVING FORWARD
as i continue my search for a "paycheck job", my art gives me patience and calm, but mostly a respite. i hope to make art my full-time profession, bringing joy and character to others' spaces.
AS AN ARTIST
my current work is textural, using multiple mediums for resistance on the canvas. I mess up, move on, return, re-evaluate, rework. generally creating chaos until I land on a moment that says "stop".
as someone who has the constant need to work toward something without constraint, my artwork is my lesson in restraint.
there's nothing quite like the sense of calm that comes with starting a piece and the sense of finality that comes with knowing it's time to stop working and take a breath.
